{Field Day 2014}

Oh what a fun and awesome first field day it was for William. His kindergarten class was all proud and full of energy! Go Fleming's Flaming Falcons!!!

Lil sister got invited and had a blast!
And all the lil ones went crazy when the principal kicked off the festivities with a dance party to the HAPPY song.
Fun and lots of silliness with his friends.
Ready for the three legged race with his buddy. They've planned this and built a strategy!
Giving it all they have!
Fourth place winners! Not too shabby.
Highlight of the day is the tug of war competition.
 Hooray for his class, kindergarten champs!!!
Love spending time with this lil guy and being able to join him with his school activities!

{Fun Run}

We are extremely blessed to be in a school with a strong PTA group. The community is rallying for our school and we want it to be successful and the best that it can be! One of the biggest fundraising event for the school is the fun run. This is our first year joining this event, and I can see how people get so into it and help the kids raise money. Family and friends can donate a flat fee or per lap dollar amount for each runner.

William did well and raise so much money. Thanks to our generous family, friends, neighbors and coworkers. He told everybody that his school is counting on him. Way to sell it buddy!
He was one of the top funraiser for his school and was declared King of Fun Runner. He also earned his class a bubble party that day! Hooray!

I had a flexible work schedule the day of his fun run, and was able to go in real quick to his school to watch his kindergarten class run their race. You can feel the energy at school that day! It was so fun!!!
All lined up and ready for the race start.
Ready, set, go!!!
The tunnel and mister was definitely a favorite of the kids.
At one point, the parents were asked to walk/run with their kids. Here's my very sweaty err wet runner. He kept pouring water on top of his head to cool off.
They also had a grab their hand and walk with a friend, and it was so cute to see William with his buddy Murray.
William did a great job!!! He ran 27 laps and raise $640 for his school!!! Thank you again friends and family.
So proud of my fun runner.
I also was able to join him for a quick lunch at his school cafeteria. He was smiling big and thanked me for coming to school event. What a sweet kid!

{Kindergarten: All About Me Box}

All About Me projects are my favorite. It's a great way to capture and remember what things our kids are really into at a certain age. We were used to doing poster from Primrose, but it was nice to up the creativity factor and work on a box instead. Here's William Kindergarten All About Me Box.

  • Orange and Blue Box for his favorite team Auburn
  • Picture of him in a barong, a traditional Filipino costume
  • Family Picture
  • Pizza for his favorite food
  • Soccer for his favorite sport
  • Mardi Gras beads from his favorite trip
  • Mummy to represent his Halloween Birthday

{Kindergarten Update}

Two weeks into the German immersion program, and he now can say his days of the week in German. Love it!! We couldn't be more pleased with his progress. It is true, kids are like sponges and can learn language faster.

{Back To School 2013}

One more milestone checked off the list, William started his "real" kindergarten this week and Samantha started with Pre-school I. I can't believe how fast my babies are growing.

We picked up a couple of new uniforms for William and a new backpack from Land's Ends big enough to carry his homework folder. Loved that he decided to go with orange and blue and we had his named monogrammed. This is such an exciting time for him. He's one of the first student for his school's German immersion program.

We met with his teachers at the school's open house and we couldn't be more pleased with our school of choice. He'll be spending half of the day with his American teacher, Ms. Fleming, and focus on Reading and Literature. The other half of his day, will be with his German teacher, Frau Miltner. They'll be focused on Math's and Sciences. Makes sense, because a number is a number. The intent is by the time that he is in 5th grade, he'll be fluent like a native speaker. Exciting! Frau Miltner DOES NOT speak English at all in front of the kids. When we walked in, she was speaking in German to us. When no kids were around, I heard her speak English, without a single hint of accent at all. They said kids learn language better and immersing them, they'll just absorb the change like a sponge.

Here are a couple of first day of school pictures of my big boy.

A sweet first day picture with Dad and a picture in front of school.
Big hug from lil sister to big brother on his first day at school.
The whole family, checking out William's classroom.
Samantha transitioned and had her first day of Pre-school I as well today. She is very excited to learn more big girl stuff. The class focuses on honing in on pottery training. Samantha has been pottery trained for almost a year. She was feeling like a rockstar, that she's one of the kids who are a Pro on this. She was so proud to show of her ribbon stamp from potty training. She also drew a backpack of William as his first day of school art work. How sweet!
A thumbs up from William for first day of school! When I picked him up from afterschool at Wieuca, he was so excited to introduce me to his new friends Rowan and Murry.
Here's to a great year William and Samantha! Enjoy learning and be kind to all the people that you will meet.
