Two days before she turned 21 months, Samantha had a strong interest in going to the potty. She's seen her big brother go to the potty and it made sense to her that's the thing to do :)
Last Sunday morning, she told me she poo poo. She has been saying this to us for the past week after she has wet or dirty her diaper. This time she was dry when I checked her. She pointed to the potty and sat there. I thought she was only "playing" so I asked Ed to watch her. Then I heard Ed yell, "Donna she just pooped". I went inside the potty and my lil girl had the biggest smile and proudly said "I did it". She's a smart lil bean and at that moment...she get it.
As "luck" would have it, she did it again yesterday. She's also been peeing consistently first thing in the morning for the past two days. I don't know if this is just a phase or actually the beginning of potty training---but we are sooo proud of her! We picked up some princess pull ups for her and she is really loving it.
The adventure to potty training came in at the perfect time. This week Samantha is transitioning from Young Toddler to Early Preschool. She will begin drinking from an open cup instead of a sippy cup. She will also begin the potty training process in this class.
What a big girl you are Samantha! We are proud of you!
